A few weeks after I graduated from high school, I found out that I was expecting a baby. I was very scared, as it was the first time in my life that I knew things were not going to be going according to what I had been planning for my life for the past four years. I knew that going to college and getting my medical degree was going to have to be put on hold.

When I had the baby and looked into her eyes for the first time, I was awed. I had never known love like this before and for the first time in my life I was scared. It was overwhelming that I was solely responsible for this little being and that I was going to have to support her and take care of all of her needs.

As I knew I could not do this on the salary that I had been making at my part time job, I decided that I would look into some health care training programs in NJ. I got the training I need and I am satisfied that I can take care of my daughter. I am also still hoping that I will one day go back to school and get my medical degree.
